Specifically, in June 2024, seafood export turnover reached the highest level since the beginning of the year when most of the key export products had high growth; in which, pangasius exports increased by 22%, tuna increased by 40%, crabs increased by 59%; Particularly, shrimp products increased slightly by 7%.
In the first half of this year, shrimp exports of all kinds brought in more than 1.6 billion USD, up more than 7% over the same period; in which, white-legged shrimp reached nearly 1.2 billion USD, a slight increase of 3%; black tiger shrimp reached more than 200 million USD, down 10%. In particular, lobster exports increased sharply 57 times over the same period, reaching more than 130 million USD.
In terms of the market, the EU is the region with sudden export growth in June with an increase of 40%. Accumulated in the first half of 2024, seafood exports to the EU will reach 513 million USD, up 12% over the same period last year. It is forecasted that the EU's consumption demand and seafood imports will increase further after the summer vacation in Europe. Vietnam's two largest seafood export markets, the US and China, recorded high growth in June 2024; in which, exports to the US increased by 14%, to China increased by 18%.
