In the domestic market
The latest record, pepper prices today decreased by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, after a slight decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, traders in Ba Ria - Vung Tau are buying pepper at 151,000 VND/kg.
This is also the transaction price recorded in Dak Nong province after decreasing by 2,000 VND/kg.
Pepper in Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai is being purchased at the same mark of 150,000 VND/kg, down 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg depending on the region.

In the world market
According to an update from the International Pepper Association (IPC) on July 14 (local time), the trading price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia), the purchase price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 and the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA remained stable compared to July 12.

According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in June 2024, exports of black pepper will reach 24,988 tons, white pepper will reach 3,174 tons. Total export turnover reached 141.1 million USD, black pepper reached 122.2 million USD, white pepper reached 18.9 million USD. The average export price of black pepper in June reached 5,067 USD/ton, up 11.5%; the export price of white pepper reached 6,922 USD/ton, up 13.4% compared to the previous month.
Generally, in the first half of the year, the export volume of black pepper reached 125,959 tons, white pepper reached 16,627 tons. The total export turnover of pepper reached 634.2 million USD, black pepper reached 539.9 million USD, and white pepper contributed 94.3 million USD.
Thus, in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam has exported 142,586 tons of pepper of all kinds, down 6.8% in volume but up 30.5% in value, information from Cong Ly newspaper.
It is known that the US is currently the largest pepper export market of Vietnam with a volume of 37,435 tons, up 44.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 26.3% of the market share.
Behind are markets of countries such as: Germany with 9,526 tons (up 106.7%); the UAE market reached 8,388 tons (up 15.2%); exports to India reached 8,173 tons (up 45.7%) and to the Netherlands market reached 6,019 tons (up 52.1%).

Rubber price update
At the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), rubber futures for September 2024 fell 0.44% to 319.1 yen/kg at the time of the survey at 6:00 am (Vietnam time).
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), the price of RSS3 rubber for delivery in September 2024 fell 0.89% at 14,510 yuan/ton.
Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) said that the average selling price of preliminarily processed rubber latex in the first half of this year reached 38.4 million VND/ton, 6 million VND/ton higher than the same period in 2023, which is a positive signal for the last months of the year. The selling price of rubber of Vietnam rubber is forecast to continue to stand at a high level in the second half of this year, according to Thanh Hoa Television.
In order to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese rubber, VRG is currently implementing many solutions to bring technical and scientific and technological advances to improve the efficiency of rubber production and business; improve the productivity of rubber plantations, labor productivity, optimize economic efficiency and sustainable development, improve adaptability; to build a variety structure to achieve progress in productivity, output and adaptability by region.
The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries has just revised up its forecast for global rubber demand to 15.74 million tons; at the same time, the global natural rubber supply forecast for the whole year was revised down to 14.50 million tons. It is likely that the world market will have a shortage of up to 1.24 million tons of natural rubber this year.
