GRDP of Tra Vinh ranks first in the Mekong Delta

In the first 6 months of the year, the situation, economy, politics and society of Tra Vinh province have achieved many positive results. Specifically, large projects are basically implemented as planned, with the disbursement rate of capital construction investment sources estimated at 45% of the plan by the end of June.

The fields of culture, education, labor and employment, people's health care, policies for people with meritorious services, poor and near-poor households, and social protection are all focused on full and timely implementation.

In addition, the processing and manufacturing industry maintained stable growth, especially the power generation industry grew strongly, promoting the province's industry index to increase sharply over the same period last year.

In the first 6 months of the year, the industrial production index increased by 58%, there were 232 newly established enterprises with a total capital of 1,462 billion VND.

Cau Ke and Tieu Can districts have been recognized as advanced new rural districts (NTM), and the province has achieved 8/8 NTM criteria.

According to Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong, Secretary of the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee, the most prominent in terms of gross domestic product (GRDP) in the province increased by 10.27% over the same period in 2023, helping Tra Vinh increase up to 27 ranks, ranking 6th out of 63 provinces and cities across the country and ranking first in the Mekong Delta region. This is also the highest growth rate of the province since the beginning of the term.

However, the value of agricultural production increased over the same period but still reached a low level compared to the plan. The progress of implementing a number of public and private investment projects is still slow. The health insurance participation rate is low, and the situation of complaints and lawsuits has not been overcome.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tra Vinh said that in the last 6 months of the year, the province focused on directing production, proactively responding to natural disasters and epidemics. Accelerate the completion of inland irrigation and support fisheries development. At the same time, it carries out the transfer of science and technology application, OCOP product development, market access support and e-commerce development.

Tra Vinh soon completed the dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the Plan for the implementation of the Tra Vinh Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Mr. Cuong emphasized that the province is focusing on completing and improving the quality of NTM criteria, preparing dossiers to propose recognition of the province meeting NTM standards.

Synchronously implement measures to manage revenue and combat budget revenue loss. Strengthen inspection, remove difficulties and accelerate the progress of works and projects. Strive to disburse public investment capital to reach 95% or more of capital compared to the plan.

According to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Tra Vinh strives to completely settle the outstanding complaints and denunciations by the end of the year, well implement the mediation work at the grassroots and strengthen the fight against crime and violations of the law on social order.

In addition, the prevention and control of corruption and negativity is resolutely and persistently implemented to ensure cleanliness and strength. The mobilization and rotation of cadres is also continued.
